How To Install Windows Xp Themes

If you aren't referring to the Luna theme, which part of the XP theme do you lot actually want?  The patently grey?

You tin practise that without downloading anything. But right-click your desktop, choose Personalization, then selection the Windows Classic theme in the listing of styles.

Note that if you don't apply an Aero theme, you will not have the ability to meet previews of running apps, and your system will operate about half the speed because your main CPU will be used (your graphics processor will no longer accelerator or procedure graphic elements).  Utilise Aero for the all-time performance and reliability.

Yous might be able to run the .theme file, simply I think that legacy theme may be too deprecated to run.  Meet, those one-time themes were really first introduced in 1995 with "Plus!" and although XP could use them, they were actually already being phased out back in 2001.

You might take to just re-create the sound/cursor files over to your Windows 7 computer, then use the sounds and mouse command console pages to assign them to the events manually.

Ane guy got bored and re-created all the Windows Plus! themes for Windows 7:

The short method is to go to your XP computer and striking Windows Logo + R to open up the Run box, and run "media".  That will open the binder where all the sound files are.

Copy those to a flash drive and take them to your new computer and re-create them to a folder (the same Media binder isn't a bad idea, or possibly a new folder inside it called "From XP", however you similar).

Then the transmission step: go through your sound settings and assign an sound file to every event you lot like and salve the sound theme.

If somewhere were sufficiently motivated, the higher up steps could be packaged into an easily reproducible form for easy sharing or re-use, but that'due south the transmission steps at to the lowest degree.
